The Beard Makes it Three: NBA Playoffs Recap for April 24

The Rockets and Wizards continue to roll, making their respective series’ 3-0 and virtually eliminating the Mavs and Raptors. Elsewhere, the Spurs come home and dominate the Clippers to take a commanding advantage in the series at 2-1.

Dallas ran out in the first and the Rockets were outscored in the second quarter. The Rockets outscored Dallas in the third while the fourth quarter was nearly even and the Rockets got the win in this high-scoring affair. The Rockets shot 54.2% from behind the arc. Houston was led by James Harden with 42 points, 9 assists, Dwight Howard with 13 points, 26 rebounds, and Josh Smith with 18 points. The Mavericks were led by Monta Ellis with 34 points, 9 assists, and Dirk Nowitzki with 34 points.

The game started out close and the Raptors were outscored in the second quarter. The second half started out close while the fourth quarter was nearly even and the woeful Raptors fall to 0-3 and face elimination on Sunday in Washington. Toronto shot a mere 37.4% from the field. Washington was led by Marcin Gortat with 24 points, 13 rebounds, John Wall with 19 points, 15 assists, and Bradley Beal with 16 points. The Raptors were led by DeMar DeRozan with 32 points, and Amir Johnson with 14 points, 12 rebounds.

San Antonio Spurs 100 (55-27)
Final

San Antonio jumped out to the early lead in the first quarter and it was a tight second quarter. The third quarter was owned by the Spurs and San Antonio finished with a strong fourth quarter to get the blowout win over the Clippers. Los Angeles shot a mere 34.1% from the field. The Spurs dominated with 47 assists. San Antonio was led by Kawhi Leonard with 32 points, Boris Diaw with 15 points, and Danny Green with 11 points. The Clippers were led by Blake Griffin with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and DeAndre Jordan with 10 points.
