One Team is Out: NBA Playoffs Recap for Saturday, April 26, 2015

Two teams extended their playoff lives, one team came one game closer to going home, and one team was sent home in a full day of NBA action featuring some of the league’s brightest stars.

Let’s get to the games:

Atlanta Hawks 83 (60-22)
Brooklyn Nets 91 (38-44)
Final

Brooklyn jumped out to a big lead in the first quarter and the Hawks dominated in the second quarter. The second half started out close while the fourth quarter was nearly even but the Nets hung on for the win. Brooklyn shot a mere 38.6% from the field but Atlanta shot a mere 35.6% from the field. Brooklyn was led by Bojan Bogdanovic with 19 points, Brook Lopez with 22 points, 13 rebounds, and Thaddeus Young with 18 points, 11 rebounds. The Hawks were led by Paul Millsap with 18 points, 17 rebounds, and DeMarre Carroll with 22 points.

 

Chicago Bulls 90 (50-32)
Milwaukee Bucks 92 (41-41)
Final

The game started out close and it was a tight second quarter. The second half started out close while the fourth quarter was nearly even, with the Bucks winning on a last second defensive gaffe by Derrick Rose. Milwaukee shot a mere 39.1% from the field. The Bulls shot 55.6% from behind the arc. Milwaukee held on to the ball much better, giving away only 15 turnovers to 28 for Chicago. Milwaukee was led by O.J. Mayo with 18 points, Jared Dudley with 13 points, and Zaza Pachulia with 8 points, 6 steals. The Bulls were led by Jimmy Butler with 33 points, and Pau Gasol with 16 points, 10 rebounds.

 

Golden State Warriors 109 (67-15)
New Orleans Pelicans 98 (45-37)
Final

New Orleans ran out in the first and the Warriors dominated in the second quarter. The Warriors outscored New Orleans in the third and New Orleans finished with a strong fourth quarter but were unable to overcome the Warriors’ dominance and were eliminated. The Warriors shot 54.2% from behind the arc. Golden State was led by Stephen Curry with 39 points, 9 assists, Draymond Green with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and Klay Thompson with 25 points. The Pelicans were led by Anthony Davis with 36 points, 11 rebounds, and Eric Gordon with 29 points.

 

Memphis Grizzlies 115 (55-27)
Portland Trail Blazers 109 (51-31)
Final

The game started out close and the Grizzlies dominated in the second quarter. The second half started out close while the fourth quarter was nearly even and the Grizzlies hung on to take the series to 3-0. Memphis was led by Marc Gasol with 25 points, Courtney Lee with 20 points, and Zach Randolph with 16 points. The Trail Blazers were led by Nicolas Batum with 27 points, and C.J. McCollum with 26 points.
