The Rise Of Harry Kane As A World-Class Striker

Few players in the world have been more prolific than Harry Kane in 2017.

The Tottenham Hotspur star has transformed himself into one of the best strikers in the English Premier League during the current season. But not only that. Kane finished the calendar year in 2017 with an astonishing tally of 56 goals in just 52 appearances, becoming the world’s top scorer during that span. And he did it in spectacular, record-setting fashion.

Kane’s numbers back him up as a superstar striker

The 24-year-old striker netted a hat-trick against Stoke City this Tuesday, registering that mark for the second straight game since he also scored three times against Burnley on December 23. Kane has eight goals in his last five Premier League appearances, and that scoring run moved him up towards the top of the EPL scoring charts with 18 goals in 19 games. If we add the UEFA Champions League matches into the equation, then Kane’s campaign has been even better. Between EPL and UCL, Kane has netted 24 goals in an equal number of games. That’s impressive any way you look at it.

Kane’s recent form has been nothing short of stellar, either. With 11 goals in his nine outings across all competitions, it seems no defense can stop Kane at the moment. His 56 goals in 52 league appearances from January to December topped players such as Lionel Messi, Mauro Icardi or Cristiano Ronaldo, and by all accounts, he enjoyed a record-setting season. But it seems Kane is just starting to round out into the kind of player he will be in the future.

The numbers back that up as well. Kane’s value has risen considerably as well, as his value has risen from €50 million to €80 million during the past 10 months, per Transfermarkt. That’s quite a steal for Tottenham because the Spurs acquired him from Arsenal as a youngster until becoming an absolute superstar.

Real Madrid and others are planning a move for him

His stellar form has attracted interest from clubs from all the world, too. Kane has been a reported target for Real Madrid over the past few months, but they are not the only team that has been willing to make a push for the striker. Manchester United and Chelsea are two of the most aggressive teams in the pursuit of the 24-year-old superstar as well. His game is tailor-made for the English Premier League, but he is good enough to thrive anywhere. And there is no question his strength, height, and powerful playing style would make quite an impact in La Liga or the Serie A if he has the chance.

It remains to be seen where will Kane play his best years. But there is no question the striker is one of the best forwards in the world right now. And he needs to celebrate because right now, the Tottenham star is in unstoppable form at the moment. The Spurs and the Premier League need to enjoy him as much as they can. And Kane is getting hotter right at the perfect with the World Cup looming in a few more months.

Without a doubt, Kane has become a superstar player. And 2017 will undoubtedly go down as “The Year of Kane”.
